Archiving Jobs

Although there is an archive selection for Estimating and Production Control it does not function for Project Management as efficiently.  Therefore we recommend the following procedure of doing a backup database for archiving jobs. 

Before you start the process, we recommend that you/your company purchase as external hard drive or a memory stick of sufficient capacity to use as your archive storage device.

Go to File->Backup Database->the Backup window will open with a scale of the compression;  Recommended will be indicated as this is the system default and should be used. 

       

Click on Backup->the browser window opens to direct where you would like to save the backup file.  It will default to the system default directories; however you want to save this backup to an archive location such as an external hard drive or a memory stick of some type->once directed to that location click on the Save button and the backup database will be saved to the selected device.  Now all the data has been saved to this date.

How do I recover the data when needed?

You would install a second database for the archived data to use.  Click on Installing a Second Database for directions on how to perform this task.
