It's possible to run a job in Steel Projects and use inventory from Tekla PowerFab without actually creating the project in Tekla PowerFab.

To enable this workflow, in Tekla PowerFab under the Maintenance dropdown select Integration Settings > Steel Projects. Make sure "Allow Nests without a Tekla PowerFab Job:" is checked.

This is an example of a possible workflow. Your use of SP-PLM will probably differ.

For this example we'll start by importing DSTV files generated by our detailing software in to SP-PLM:

Then from the Project Manager tab we'll select the Project that we just imported, then the Drawing tab. Select the pieces you want to nest and drag them to the Selection window:

Next, make sure "Send to Production" is checked, and click the Action button; then Quit Production manager:

Now under Fabrication Job select this job, then from the Optimize Cutting tab go to Section Nesting:

Click Save to update Tekla PowerFab.
SP-PLM will update Tekla PowerFab inventory, and reserve material for this project . . .

. . . and will prompt you to create a Tekla PowerFab requisition for material that needs to be ordered.
