Error Installing Crystal Reports Viewer: 1603

Problem

The user will get this message at the beginning of the installation process of the program.  It began with version 5.2.4r06 and later:  “Error Installing Crystal Reports Viewer: 1603”

Solution

Error message 1603 is a new error message when installing the 5.2.4 release.  You should be able to complete the installation process.  Then log in and try opening the Default Directory and changing the Crystal Report Viewer Version from Crystal Reports 2013 to Crystal Reports XI.  Close the program to reset it to the new viewer, then reopen and try again. If that does not fix the problem then Programming has found that downloading the .NET and Crystal Report Viewer installers and run them manually should work. Take the following steps to fix this issue:

 

  1. If you are on a Windows XP machine, make sure you are logged into Windows as a user with administrative credentials.  For Windows Vista and later it shouldn't matter: - if you don't have administrative credentials you will be prompted for them when running the installers.
  2. Open the FabLicense program and go to the Downloads section (File > Run FabLicense > File-Downloads > Contact Server).
  3. Download and run dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe.
  4. Download and run CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_8.msi.
  5. Re-run the Tekla PowerFab install/program files update.
  6. If, after taking the above steps, you are still seeing this error, then please contact Technical Support.
