Combine to Specific Lengths
recombine material

Combine materials to specific lengths - Sometimes vendors may not have the stock material in the specific lengths requested.  Materials will then need to be uncombined and re-combined to those warehouse available lengths.

• Un-Combine material
• Re-Combine to specific lengths manually
• Re-Combine to specific lengths ‘automatically’

First, uncombined the items, as we need to be working with ‘loose pieces’ to be able to either ‘manually’ or ‘automatically’ re-combine materials to specific lengths.  Click to highlight the item or groups of items, and then click ‘Uncombine’ at the bottom. Click ‘Yes’ in the pop up window to confirm. Uncombined items will drop to the bottom of the display area list.

Use the left side navigation tree to set filter for the uncombined items.  To filter for items, click on the ‘+’ to the left of Shape and Dimensions, then click ON the material size.  While this is not a necessary step, it is a helpful one as you limit the display area to show only the materials with which you are working.

We will work the manual version first, step by step.
Click the ‘Manual Combine Mode’ button at the top left of the window.

Notice at the top left of the window you are ‘Currently in manual combine mode’.

Click ‘New’.  Add the material to be used in your combining.  The example shows I have added (4) L 6 x 4 x 3/8 x 30’-0 and (1) L 6 x 4 x 3/8 at 20’-0.  Now we will manually combine my loose pieces into these stock lengths.

Click to highlight the first ‘Stock Length’ item:

In the ‘Pricing Maintenance Combining Run’ window, click New, enter the stock lengths to be used, click ‘Add’.  Click to highlight and then delete out the ones not to be used.  Changes made here are only for this combining run, and do not affect the global Pricing Maintenance data base.

In this installment we have reviewed the following:

• Re-Combine to specific lengths manually
• Re-Combine to specific lengths ‘automatically’

However you choose to re-combine the material, the next step is to get the materials to a Purchase Order.  This will be in our next installment for ‘Purchase Orders – Ordering and receiving Materials’.
